At 16, Cazz joined an elite music academy that she attended for the remainder of her high school years. There she took various music subjects such as music law, song-writing, performance classes, music history, improvisation, and many others that gave her an in-depth look at the music world and how to create a successful career in it. In the same year, Cazz worked closely with Universal Music under a development deal and realized that there would be no other future for her. They eventually parted ways, but it made her more determined than ever to take her music seriously.
Cazz had always loved writing, and so she turned that passion toward song-writing for the first time. What came about was a mix of jazz elements, a soulful sound, and pop, true to moments in her life. She believes that for her, writing her own music is one of the most important aspects of being a singer, because it allows her to connect with complete strangers and evoke emotion in them.
"The music I create is always a small part of my soul put to sound. I write what I feel in a moment, about love, love lost, and everyday things that everyone can relate to in one way or another. I could tell you a million things through one song, that I could never explain just by speaking to you," she says. Cazz is set on always being an open book in a world that has strayed past honesty, a world that has become fixated on the pretentious aspects of life, and so she does this through her songwriting, as well as her social pages. She is also an advocate for body positivity and mental health.
Over the years Cazz has released a few singles to digital platforms and radio, including Tipsy, a young love song accompanied by a cheerful music video that debuted on MTV. And a year later she released Electricity, an edgier song that debuted on Anele’s drive show on 947. The music video was shot by the renowned Kyle White with dancers and scenes of a more passionate nature. In between these two official releases, Cazz has spent countless hours in the studio writing and recording with a variety of people, always excited to work with someone new and experiment with new sounds.
In the live scene, Cazz has played on the stages of Oppikoppi, White Mountain Festival, the Centurion Fan Fest at the 2010 Soccer World Cup, the Nelson Mandela 21 Years of Freedom Celebration and many local gigs around Gauteng at venues such as Milkbar, Social on Main, Rumours Rock City, markets and more.
Fast forward, and Cazz spent nearly a year in France, but she longed to return to South Africa, which is where she feels most alive and at home. She brought back a ton of songs, refreshed, and inspired to give this industry her 110%. She signed a publishing deal and a digital deal with Gallo
Cazz is a sincere, hard-working, and passionate artist, with true love and fire in her soul for music and what it can bring to people.
