about

"Hailing from Mahikeng, Lection adds another classic onto the historical Motswako catalog with his latest offering. A 13-track complete puzzle of his journey broken into three parts; The introduction, the fun, and the hardcore raps. Lection welcomes us into his world and journey on the "Luka Where I Am From," which serves as the intro to the album. Featuring Lucille Slade, she blends in perfectly as she handles the hook. Battling with the opinions and perspectives of others, he brings Brian Temba to help answer the question; "Who Am I?" Stressing that everybody wants to know about him, but nobody cares enough to know who he really is. And that's the same reason he chose to tell his story his way. On the inquisitive and introspective path, Lection questions where the love went on the third track, "Why." He exposes us to his romantic side on "Atumela," a Setswana marriage proposal featuring Morolong who delivers the most beautiful poem anybody would definitely say yes to.

Taking a turn to the fun side, the album makes a switch to a more vibey, chilled, bula boot kasi soundtrack on track five, six, seven, and eight. Dedicating "Majita" to his squad, 'cause you gotta know how they pull up. This carries the same tone as the Ntukza, Jovislash and Eze Lap featured "Bloma" which is a complete vibe. Question; When last did you hear a Tuks Senganga verse? Lection made sure he got you as he tags him on "Ngaye," another Saturday evening braai feel-good jam. Closing off on this, he calls out the lazy, those who want to be rewarding for doing absolutely nothing. Sampling Sankomota's "Now or Never," - "Ghuna Spane" is definitely the new age "Now or Never" spreading the same message to a different generation. The more things change, they stay the same.

In the last quarter of the album, we get the raps, the raps rap, na-mean? You will just follow our lead. From the chilled kwaito/pantsula vibes, the album goes hardcore on both production and the raps. Kicking it off on the ninth track with Fifi Cooper the late HHP featured on the track, "Ale Duma E" comes on. This served as the first single released prior to the album coming out. The way Lection spazzed on this is incredible, switching to the fast-paced raps that we all know him for. "Bass, Drum" follows with Tsywza, and as we were about to catch our last breath, what do you know; A RHYME FEST. Bringing in rappers to ball in the court, the squad is in the form on Hurricane Ceaser, Lolly & The Illest, and GumarU Da G.O.D on "Zaka Zaka Moola," and on the other side, it's Notshi, Huge Da Oracle, and Profesher KT on "Lefika." Trust us when we tell you this; they ball hard!

As everything eventually comes to an end, like a good soldier, Lection closes the album off with a prayer; delivered in the form of poetry by a Setswana poet, Mogote. This is totally one body of work that is worth your ears, for every occasion there's a song, and you might just find it in this. Lection completed his puzzle, perhaps this could be a guide to you doing the same with yours. He's from Luka; and his story is told on the album below.
